So, you spent a lot of time, money and aggro on doing psychotherapy or counselling. And now what? How will your life change? And will there be any necessary changes perhaps which seem to demand your immediate attention? Well, usually, yes. You will change for the better but you will still need to take that intrepid step. This way your therapy will have all been worthwhile.
It’s time to take stock, therefore, and to ask yourself a few questions.
Why am I in this god-awful relationship?
Why am I not fulfilled?
Why do I still put up with this situation at work?
Will I ever manage to launch my dream project?
When will I be able to stand up to my mother-in-law?
What do I need to say in order to clear the air either at home or at work?
Why have I not yet done anything about moving home or changing my job?
And why is my life still in tatters after all this time?
You can add many more questions to your list. And those which need to go on your list will instantly spring to mind without any prompting.
But don’t be at all surprised if your life begins to change at the most inconvenient moment as a direct result of your therapy – especially if you have been dragging your coat somewhat. And the questions which you have been asking yourself seem to get ticked off your list automatically – or, at least, the unresolved stuff will start demanding your attention and it cannot be ignored – because that’s what positive change is all about.
Sometimes you can – with some concerted effort – bring about important changes and sometimes the universe will just simply take over and drive you in the right direction.
