Ten Years on for JMHT

Posted on 28 November 2021

I can hardly believe that it is a whole decade since I founded Jacquelyne Morison Hypnotherapy Training when I was living in Canterbury in Kent. It seems like only yesterday when I conducted the first Hypnotherapy Practitioner Course with only a handful of eager trainees all of whom have continued to blossom and two of whom have now become qualified tutors.

It certainly made sense for me to start my own hypnotherapy training school because I had already been working for other schools both in the UK and abroad for some years and so to run my own school was not a leap in the dark. Prior to becoming a therapist, moreover, I had accumulated a wealth of teaching experience in various disciplines which had spanned a couple of decades, including a speciality in teacher training.

I had also published my books on Analytical Hypnotherapy in two volumes with Crown House Publishing and The Truly Dynamic Therapist. I wanted, furthermore, to bang the drum in favour of the analytical approach to hypno-psychotherapy and so starting the school has enabled this much-neglected therapeutic approach to be further put on the map. I have, of course, remained true to my core belief that the combination of investigative therapy, coupled with the use of imaginative and relaxation techniques, is the ultimate answer to root-cause resolution. And, fortunately, my trainees have all recognised and continued to promote this wisdom.

In the early days, I offered only a limited range of continuing professional development courses in Art Hypnotherapy, Eye-Movement Therapy and Children & Minors Therapy. This list was soon expanded to include Gold Counselling and Hypnobirthing, a course devised by tutor Kirsty Wick, and, just this year, I extended the offering to include Post-Traumatic Stress and Psycho-Somatic Stress & Trauma. Initially Psycho-Spiritual Therapy was offered as a short course but it soon proved to be such a vast subject that now it has become an advanced diploma which stands in its own right.

I have also utilised my teacher training experience by devising a tutor training programme, which includes courses in Teaching and Training Skills and Supervisory Skills, and now JMHT boasts a number of tutors who offer a range of courses to trainees worldwide.

I have, moreover, extended my range of publications in order to include Creative Analytical Hypnotherapy which was written especially for the flagship Hypnotherapy Practitioner Course as well as Hypnotic Art Therapy for the Art Hypnotherapy course, Psycho-Spiritual Therapy which was written in order to accompany the advanced diploma course and Hypnotherapy Teaching, Training and Supervision.

Today I reside in the Cotswolds, although most of the JMHT training is undertaken online because this vehicle was fast becoming a natural progression away from standard classroom-style teaching. Now, of course, online training is more or less the norm because of the challenging times which beset the planet and the fact that technology has advanced to such an extent that education and training have been revolutionised accordingly.
